"My brilliance is yet unmatched. I am the wizard of the impossible. I am charming, quick witted and imaginative. "I am The Monkey." The Goddess of Mercy, Kwan Yin, watches over the playful Monkey God. A gold band was placed around the Monkey's head by the gods to help keep him out of trouble. Whenever he would begin to cause trouble in the heavens, the gold band would tighten, giving him a headache and halting his misbehavior. He also carries a Gold Rod that is magical; he can make it so small that he can conceal it behind his ear. Then he can bring it out whenever he needs it. To make him atone for his misdeeds, the gods appointed him protector of the great God Tripitaka, who was chosen to journey forth and find the sacred scriptures of Buddha.
